I'm trying Golden Paste and I want your tips

The Golden Paste Turmeric experiment: how do you take yours?

A new month, a new load of experiments to try and improve my symptoms for Fibromyalgia and low level inflammation. This month is Golden Paste, which is made from Turmeric.

Home made golden paste for fibromyalgia
Mmm… Turmeric

I used this recipe, with olive oil rather than coconut oil as I don’t like coconut. After tasting it I’m not sure coconut would make the taste much worse to be honest BUT I’ve put it in my daily smoothie and you wouldn’t know it was there. Hooray!

But when I up the dose to twice a day I will need new ideas to hide the taste. What do you add your golden paste to? Or do you just get used to the taste?

The other thing I learnt is, although the yield of Golden Paste from the above recipe is pretty substantial and will probably last me months and months (you can freeze what you don’t need straight away), it wasn’t really sensible for me to make it myself. All that stirring and pepper grinding (I gave up and used pre ground pepper after not very long) really set off my shoulder pain and was super exhausting. But, I’ve found a company in the UK you can buy 100ml from for £2 plus postage ready made. Think I shall be doing this next time to save on precious spoons.

Any tips on using this would be great. I’m starting at 1/4 teaspoon once daily for a week and then going to twice daily. I’d love to hear other people’s experiences of it too.

UPDATE: So my pain levels have not improved on the paste, but a number of other things have. My GFR has gone up into healthy levels since taking it, so it’s helping my liver but I haven’t had my inflammation levels checked BUT I’ve found out I have endometriosis since and a doc has told me most of my other pain is nerve pain, so the anti-inflammatory effect may not directly affect it. But it’s helped my digestion (start slow if you do it does need a little getting used to by your stomach) and I think helped clear up my back acne, but that one could have been a number of things.

  1. So I’ve had Golden Milk suggested to me as an option, here’s the recipe if anyone else wants to try: Healthy Mama Golden Milk Recipe

  2. Great post! I use turmeric myself. I have used the recipe from the link above in comments but I hadn’t seen the recipe for the golden paste so thank you foe that. I shared this post to my page too.

    1. Ah thanks! That website with the golden paste recipe has so much info that it’s a bit overwhelming but a great resource! 🙂

  3. Have this helped you with Fibromyalgia? Thank you for your post, it really helps me when I’m down.

    1. The answer is- it’s complicated. My GFR has gone up into healthy levels since taking it, so it’s helping my liver but I haven’t had my inflammation levels checked and it didn’t really touch my pain BUT I’ve found out I have endometriosis since and a doc has told me most of my other pain is nerve pain, so the anti-inflammatory effect may not directly affect it. But it’s helped my digestion (start slow if you do it does need a little getting used to by your stomach) and I believe the group admin on the turmeric group I use uses it successfully for fibro x

      1. Thank you so much Laura for the reply.
